Ought to have been a poll...
But I'm not special enough to get to create one.

So I ask you all:

Please leave me your favorite cover song, and the artist who sings it, in the comments.

Thanks!

"The Passenger" by Siouxsie and the Banshees

I believe they were covering Bauhaus' cover of David Bowie's cover of Iggy Pop's "The Passenger". For a while, it seems everyone covered that tune. Hers is my favorite, though. The fat brass in it can't be beat.

Ugh, this is a tough one. I think..."With a Little Help from My Friends" by Joe Cocker. Way more heart than the Beatles version. Or Tool's version of "No Quarter."

Well, there's pretty much anything by Me First & The Gimme Gimmes ...
My favorite favorite, though, is: "You Don't Own Me" by Rasputina

Never Say Never and White Wedding, both covers by Queens of the Stone Age. Oh, and it's nigh impossible to find the cover of Sex Dwarf by Nine Inch Nails, I think that was mostly done live.

Well, it's a toss up, either Twisted sister's "Captain Howdy" as done by Crisis, or Tori Amos' cover of Slayer's "raining blood"

Also, NIN's "Hurt" as done by Johnny Cash is especially good

Right now, it's Killswitch Engage's cover of "Holy Diver" by Dio. The video for it is just icing on the cake.

Tori Amos' version of Famous Blue Raincoat comes to mind. (Her versions of Happiness is a Warm Gun and Heart of Gold rank high on the list of the worst covers ever done.)

I like when the Petshop Boys sing "Always on My Mind."
True. :P
